Netscape Editor can be used from any machine in the CSB core. You save the page in your current working directory and then "publish" the page by ftp'ing it to the document directory tree for our web server. Therefore you must have permission to ftp deposit a file in the subdirectory where you want to edit a web page. You should have this permission for your labortory group home pages.
To get started, click on the Open File in Editor option under the File pull-down menu in Netscape. The path to individual CSB members home pages is /eve/www/csb_home/people/.
If you would like to insert special characters into your HTML document as in this example:
"The structure has been solved and refined at 2Å resolution with tight stereochemistry (rmsbonds= 0.009Å and rmsangle=1.789°)."
you need to insert the definitions for the special characters. The raw HTML for the above looks like this:
"The structure has been solved and refined at 2Å resolution with tight stereochemistry (rms<i>bonds</i>= 0.009Å and rms<i>angle</i>=1.789°)."
We have either a list or a table of the special characters and their definitions.
Also we have a list of common symbols as GIF's.
