Python-based Hierarchical ENvironment for Integrated Xtallography

PHENIX is a software suite for structure determination by X-ray crystallography (and other methods). It attempts to proceed from reduced intensity data to a refined molecular model. The goal is to automate structure solution and completion even at medium-to-low resolution. PHENIX is written using the Python scripting language and C++.

Much of the latest functionality of PHENIX derives from tying together SOLVE, Phaser, and Rosetta (for 1.9+).

To use PHENIX from its GUI in the Core on a Linux workstation, type

setup phenix [version]

phenix &

The programs may also be run from the command line via

phenix.[module name]
(e.g., phenix.refine)

Note that PHENIX has replaced standalone SOLVE, which can be run from the GUI, or using the command line via:

phenix.[re]solve
See the SOLVE page and the relevant section of the online Phenix documentation.

For more information, consult the PHENIX website.
