The Protein Data Bank (PDB) contains atomic coordinates for macromolecular structures obtained by X-ray and NMR methods. It also contains model structures and much bibliographic information on macromolecular structure.
More information is available directly from the Protein Data Bank itself.
To obtain PDB coordinate files when using a text window only, simply type "getentry [4letterPDBcode]" in a UNIX window. This should launch an automatic ftp session to the PDB and download the PDB file to your current working directory. (This requires an up to date $HOME/.netrc file. If "getentry" does not work, remove any .netrc file in your home directory and try again.)
NOTE: The downloaded file is compressed (.Z extension). Use the UNIX command 'uncompress <filename>' to uncompress the file.
